I have a chance to pick up some used outboards. One of them is a Johnson 300 GT. I am not sure of the year, the current owner is looking for information on them. He said it has been on a pallet for three years and it was running when taken off a boat.
What is a ball park price for this motor?
Also I am going back to look at it tomorrow, what should I look for?
How do these motor run?
Not sure what I would do with it, but if they were good motors I will pick it up.

well they make good TQ. There is a 3.6L and a 4.0L they share lots of parts with the V-4 and V-6. The lower units don't like to surface but there is a fix for that too. I really like the motors they sound great and work well for pushing heavy boats.

I would do a leak down if you can on them. Besides that just look for parts missing some came with power steering and they should have a VRO system stock.
