Should the engine be hot or cold for accuracy?
How about for a leak down test?
Warming an outboard up is sort of inconvenient this time of year.....

I don't have a rule of thumb other that when comparing do it the same EVERY time... If you use a warm motor to start your test data do it warm every time and if you start your data with a cold motor continue the data entry with a cold motor... All I'm saying is for accuracy just do it the same every time...

so ,the only thing that comes to mind is when you did the compression test were you unsatisfied with the results, consistinsey is what would concern to me just my .02 worth hot or cold if somethings wrong it will show both ways
