Are there mods i can bolt on? Or do they all have to be performed by an engine mechanic?

It all according to your skill level ... Those are very few hours on a Pro Max. Heads ARE the biggest bank for the $$$ bar none .. Also if you own a torque wrench this mod is a piece of cake. We cut tons of Pro Max heads a year for the 225 Pro Max's and folks love this easy 1 hour total labor mod..

WELL , thats the easiest 1 hour less than $260.00 mod for machine work , proper gaskets and freight back with torque instructions TYD..
My next mod in line would be to replace your stock steel reeds to a set of TDR ( Tony Doukas Racing ) fiber reed valves, but that is somewhat entailed and allot more labor intensive ..

Okay one more question what are the safe compression numbers versus the bad numbers?

A leakdown test is the true test of bore/ring health, versus a standard "cranking over" compression check... I'd say that 10% leakdown is about as much as I would run with before a ring and bore job, but if the engine has been maintained and operated with some general care and sense then it should go easily several hundred hours before this and possibly more... I don't think over 1,000 hours is a real uncommon thing...

According to your altitude but at sea level any cranking compression above 145 PSI is IMO "IFFY" with this crappy fuel these days....
