i have a 1987 yamaha 150prov and my lower unit has started getting water in it and leaking gear oil. so i was wanting to fix it myself but not sure what tools are needed and the best way to do so. like any ins and out to help the job go smoothly. never done one but want to learn. thanks

be extremely carefull!because u dont want to screw up any of the surfaces of the seals!i have been doing this for about 15 years, and have seen some catastrafies.but not to say u cant do it just be very aware of what is what.the ones i have seen jacklegs get ahold of them.if your on here and already asking about it i feel sure your already aware alot more than most i've seen ha ha ha ha.yes there are some tricks to getting some of the seals out without special tools but thats where the carefulness comes in.and torque specs come in to play on reassembly also.and once it all broke down its really not that hard really.i was very causious on my first one if u need or have any questions pm me i will try and help ya i dont mind.i also have all the manuals for true info too.im sorry if i made it sound a little bit more like launching the spaceshuttle, trust me its not.
