History has it that many Hydrostream enthusiasts originally went looking to purchase a Hydrasport, but they soon learned that almost all owners of Hydrasports were mentally challenged openly gay men in the 25-35 age range...so they opted to own Hydrostreams instead...looking better and running faster than they would have in the slower Hydrasport!

Just because something is very collectible doesn't mean it has to be worth a S@#T load of money...some people think,as well as myself, that the design of Hydrostreams are very unique and present a timeless fashion. There were many models made, over the years, that would cater to the average enthusiast to a full blown racer. And after 40+ years they are still making them! I personally own a Comp Vector that weighs 336 pounds and was a special order boat that was built from Howard Pipkorn (innovator and creator of Hydrostream) to a guy who wanted the lightest Vector possible to race with and the particular pad design, weight, and other special secrets put into this boat have not been duplicated since and never will...Not only is it beautiful to look at and extremely fast, it is the lightest Vector EVER made which would make it 1 of 1! Rare enough for you?

Some of the people on this website might have even been a part of building this particular boat and many other boats on here, and they have much knowledge and pride involved in these boats and recall many of them that come up here from time to time and give a story about them when they see them....so yes they are SPECIAL!!!

So, what's your charlestonfishing.com screen name? It would be appreciated if you keep your attitude there. Do all of the cool kids in chucktown have poling platforms on their ski boats? So, your daddy has an A boat, wow. Have you ever been on the pad in a Hydrostream? Were you even on this planet in the '70's? I've owned checkmate, tahiti and stratos go fasters and Hydrostreams always handed me my a$$. Had several buds with streams and the ride was without compare. I think that you need a little seat time to understand the passion folks have for these boats. Yes, the older boats have their build quality issues, but when you rescue one and reconstruct it with modern materials, you have a boat that will run with a modern design at a fraction of the cost, not to mention the pride in having made it "yours". Better pull up your asbestos BVDs, flames on. Oh, I found a couple pix of your boat. I remeber something about glass houses - just sayin.

Damn, I could have saved myself a bunch of time and money if only I had known that you can just bolt a poling platform to a closed bow ski boat and be that F'n cool:eek::eek: I went through all that for nothing:mad: I wouldn't be supprised if hydrasports12 is trying to patent the idea as we speak now that the pics of his "RIG" are on here for the all world to see:eek: and why do I need 300 hp on the back? with a 90hp it would give people more time to stare at my Sweet covered bow ski boat with a poling platform. even the average weekend warrior in a bayliner could come cruzin up beside me and get a good long look. All he needs now is a trolling motor on the bow and a push pole on the deck to complete the ultimate all around fishing/ski boat, Maybe some of the big boat mfgrs. should take notice, it could be the next big thing on the market. This thread has dredged up some bad memories,,,, I sold a nice 15' Allison to a guy a long time ago.... He took the boat to a shop and had it turned into a bass boat. Troll mtr, seat on frt deck, plastic livewell in back. ROD HOLDERS!!!!! When I saw the boat several weeks later I was sickened by the sight of it.... A once proud, fast boat turned into a fish wagon.... Some people just don't deserve to own a stream or any performance boat...As for why own a Hydrostream, Unless you have owned a Stream, you will never understand anyway...

I love my A boat and don't want anything else but a stream is a timeless boat. They were very sucsessful in racing and a kick to drive. Had a friend with a 2.4 200 stock on a V king that ran 90 fairly easy. Stream owner have a reason to be proud they are one of the best running Vs ever made.

Maybe the guy went over to the corvettefever site and asked what the big deal is with vettes, too. Subjective taste can't be argued rationally. There is simply no right or wrong on the issue, but it is wrong to try to turn someones subjective taste into a wrong, which is kind of what he did.

I'd be proud to own your Varmint. I remember that boat sitting on the showroom floor, and drove it many times. The owner took good care of it, he lived in Cantonment, FL and the boat sat in a large shop and seldom used. The owner took it up north several years ago and left it with his son to use for skiing at his lake house in New Hampshire, there the boat was left out and I guess eventually traded off. It's nice to see you saved it before it became a wormbed.

Just so everyone knows, when I bought the boat it came with the poling platform, seat mount, and trolling motor mount. Those pictures are from two years ago before I gutted the whole boat. All as been removed except the platform (the girls like sitting up there). Totally went through the whole boat and replace wood with coosa material. I had the poling platform powder coated black instead of raw aluminum.

I think the big deal about Hydrostreams is the fact that not many new ones are being made, so they are pretty rare. I know that at the lake that I go to, I have only ever seen one other Hydrostream in the last 5 years. Every time I'm at the gas station I get people walking up asking about the boat....they just don't see many boats like it.

I love the lines of the Hydrostreams, the way they sit nose high in the water, and how they are light and fast. The hull design on that boats seems to be pretty efficianyt, and they just have a unique look to them.

I wasn't really set out to buy a Hydrostream when I started looking for a boat several years ago....it's just that the Vegas seemed to have everything I wanted at a very good price. Sure there are lots of better boats out there that will go faster.....for 2, 3, 4 times the price......

I'd say it's held up pretty well for being 22 years old..........

I'm also sure if I put a big black motor or some other big V-6 on the back I could tell you that it goes 100mph too.

So I take it that one guy told you his hydrostream went 100 and probably didnt. You can find this anywhere with anything anytime. Lots of people like to tell their own "I once caught a fish this big" story. Im just not ignorant as you to say "whats the big deal with fishing?" Ignorance is bliss....

It's not nearly as fast as Franks Vegas...mine will run around 82-83....fast enough for me :D
