Hi i have a 2.5 mercury sportmaster with a leaking propshaft. There is fluid comming from the bottom of the shaft where the shaft meets the gearcase. My question is, do the 2.5 v-6 sportmasters use the same propshaft seals as the standard 2.5 v-6 gearcase? I have a stock 150 2.5 motor on my flats boat but don't know if the seals are the same! I dont wanna buy the wrong seals, i think there 20 bucks a piece! Can anyone help me?

All the torquemaster and sportsmaster I have seen/delt with use a different seal than the standard gear case due to the bearing carrier is larger where the seal goes in. If it has the drain plug in the carrier, it will use the standard torq/sportmaster seal. Yes, they are expensive. Here is a place you may some some money on them. Scroll down and at the bottom it will list all the engines it fits. You will see it fits many years of TM and SM lowers. Hope this helps!!
