My power trim motor stops working occasionally. If I tap on the pump motor it will work fine for awhile. I would like to remove the pump motor and inspect/clean the brushes and armature. Do I have to remove the trim fluid or can I just remove the motor without oil loss ? Anyone else have similar issuses?

The motor/pump unit has two allen cap screws diagonally that hold the valve body and motor in at the bottom of the assembly. You can remove only the motor by removing two ( the long ones, but if you're diassembling the motor it won't matter til you put it back on) of the phillips cap screws on the topof the motor (2 hold it on the valve body and two hold the cap on as well)The motor and armature will come of as one unit but some have no base cap and the armature will stay in the valve body/pump assembly but it will just lift out without a problem.Hope this helps.
