I have a 21' Daytona with a 300 pro max. I currently run a Mazco RE4 26. My top speed 2 weeks ago was 92.4 GPS. Im looking to reach 100 mph. I have ran a RE3 29 and wasnt able to get the RPMS I was looking for. Any suggestions on a different prop to reach 100? Thanks in advance!!

What RPM you running with the props tested. Picking up 8mph with just a prop change is almost impossible.

I agree........unless you are absolutely body-slammming the limiter with your 26 pitch prop, gains in the area of 8 mph won't be possible. Depending on rpm's, a 27 or 28 pitch may be a consideration.

8 mph with just a prop change? Maybe, and even more likely with prop change and height change. I can certainly vary my SS2000 top speed by >8 mph with props and engine height.

John Tiger tested the 21 Cougar with 3 different engines for Hotboat. He said the ET worked best. Mr Tiger got over 100 with the 300 Merc.

Well then.........put an ET on it and report back with your real world speeds.

I ran a RE4 28 and RPM's were around 6400, RE3 29 RPM's were worse at 6150. Current RE4 26 is just about hitting the limiter. 2 owners ago said his best prop for the best top speed was the RE3 29 but its has been the worse yet. Would a 3 blade give me better top speed? Would lowering the engine height also give me more top end?

Heck your in San Diego....Call Dave Hemmingson (sp) at DCB he'll know what prop will run that boat.

All these guys are hitting the nail on the head. There are so many factors when you are trying to gain that much and it's always hard to duplicate what someone else has said they have done. Prop, has it been worked, engine height, water, temp, ect...best thing is to take these guys advice as a starting point and go from there. This will also get you seat time in your boat and there's no substitute for knowledge of your own rig. Good luck and please post your results.
