Totally cool . In 1975 I sent my "A " Merc lower unit that I had adapted to a stock 20 Merc of the same year using the A tower housing and had them re - seal and impeller it for me . I was only 17 but they did me right and I did a few 25ss races with it in a boat we got form Peter Scopinich in 1974 at the Hampton Bays boat yard they had .At the time I was in Key West with four buddies from Freeport high School taking a Marine Propulsion course . Good times for a kid like me !

Very cool! I bought a bore light off e-bay yr's back and it showed up in a small metal storage box w/a very well worn "Dick O'Dea Racing" sticker on it. I e'd to ask if it was him and that I was a huge fan after he confirmed his identity. He thanked me for the compliment and said he had taken that little box all over the world with him. I don't see ever letting that thing go.
Also, cool story on the C Crescents. I started racing right at the end of their history and always wanted one.
Thanks for sharing John!

Back in the day (86/87/88...) Dick-O-Dea was "The Man" If you sent a P/H to him you had something back then!

Sherlock drove his kilo boat the year before Andrews drove it for Dick. Great guy but the loudest snorer I ever heard. At the Moorehaven Kilos the rooms at the fish camp had the old slatted doors, no air cond.

Was there...lol...that, & the proliferation of love-bugs.

Some time back someone had mentioned they did not know of a 125 MPH Club. When I set the record in the Dick O'Dea hydro this was a club I became a member in....

That series of certificates replaced the old Gulf Oil 100 mph club, which was later upped to the 150 Mph club as speeds increased.
