I was told from a local SnF memeber that some heads and carbs would wake my engine up.I have a 94 johnson 200 venom,I was wondering what to expect from these upgrades?I would like a few more mph from my combo Currently im running 70.0 on gps with a taylor lp weighing in at 1900 lbs (according to factory weight)

There are several mod's you can do to "wake" it up. Tapping and plugging the idle relief holes in cylinders will add about 10 psi (static) to compression numbers. The 2.7 heads will need to have water passage mod and t-stat seats/cup changed to use the new style stats. These are a 10-15 psi bolt on and the 225 carbs really helps. I have the same set up on 409 Javlin "bass" and I run mid 70's, plugged reliefs,2.7 heads,225 carbs (Tx225 got my V-8 carbs) and .084 high speeds...

Where can these 2.7 heads be found? Is this the only year (87) the OMC made a good head?
