Would a Teleflex-Baystar steering system work ok on a 155 hp(crankshaft horsepower) Merc inline. I know they are rated for 150hp and up to 60 MPH. This particular application would run around 70ish but it is running a super speedmaster so the torque will be a lot less than a big gearcase. I got this system new at an auction several months ago and was trying to use it on something.

I agree, if it has solid mounts in the motor, and this comes from a guy who actually has a Baystar system, and knows just a little bit about inlines and SSM's....

I say yes

Thanks guys! I kinda thought it might. It is for my Dutchman/Stacker. All the restoration work is done(stringers, core) and it is ready for new gelcote on deck and rigging. It is fairly light. I am hoping for 70's.

When I had single cable on mine with a little Yamaha 130 I could barley hold on to the wheel. Cleavers were the best but a Trophy nearly pulled the wheel out of my hands at anything over 50mph. I was really surprised even with a torque tab. Look at the Uflex systems for just a little more coin and a lot beefier setup. Thats the route I went.

He is going to run a SSM. The 10" propeller spins at 6,500 RPM and generates almost no steering torque, and is butter smooth.
