pull to ramp put boat in water and starts fine every time. motor will idle and run great but when you turn off or if the motor dies it will not start unless you turn the fuel pump off, then it will turn over a few times and start turn the fuel pump back on and will run fine. its a rebuild with new elec.and fuel pump worked good with my other powerhead. thanks for any help!

Sounds like either the primer circuit is hooked up wrong flooding the engine or you have a leaking injector. Could be an ECU problem also. Having to turn off the pump points to a flooding problem.

have used 2 different ecu and different regulators same problem. can check the injector, but what about the primer circuit is that the yellow wire with the black chaser from the ecu harness. if so how should it be wired?

Also could be Injectors could flooding ( send to Brucato for cleaning and calibration ) OR the orficed tee that attaches the high pressure side of the fuel rail to the return line is blocked causing the injector s to stay pressured up and will bleed off into the case and flood..

Seperate the yellow with red tracer wire from yellow with black tracer wire to test system..

ok jay this maybe a dumb questions but when i seperate those two wires what am i looking for?

No such thing as a dumb question in the quest for knowledge !!!!

It will NOT be in CHOKE mode and will not be as rich when cranking when those wire are seperated..

2 more questions is it ok to run with the wires seperated? and checked the wires can make the choke engage at the yellow wire with red chaser but it will not engage when both the yellow wire with red chaser and the yellow wire with black chaser are connected try doing this by pushing in the key at the switch. looks like i have a crapped out ignition switch did not know this until today could that be the cause of the choke problem?thanks jay for any help!

ANYTIME I had a problem like that it was leaking injectors

Its OK to run the two wire seperated but I'm going to agree with funinthesun my guess would be injectors. I trip to Brucato will work WONDERS for the performance of your engine..1 919 718 0249 (Brucato in N.C.)

on older 260's with the analog ecu the enrichen circuit was done through the starter solenoid. on newer digital ecu 260's the enrichen circuit wires are not on the solenoid but go on a junction block next to the hot horn connection block. if you switched your ecu from analog to digital then thats the problem. the yellow/red from ign harness connects to yellow/red from ecu harness. if it on the solenoid it will energize the injectors everytime you start it. works ok when cold but not hot.

so with the yellow/red connected to the solenoid it will energize the injectors even if the yellow and black is not connected. i am using a digital box. and im guessing it would be best to wire it like the newer 260 using the connection block.

SIMPLY Disconnect the two wires take THAT possibility out of the loop ! If the problem is then not solved move to plan B...

got it! will try thanks for the help will post over the weekend and let you know thanks for the help again. i do agree with the injector cleaning by brucato its money well spent have had this done on my laser motor. but the guy had these injectors cleaned 2 summers ago by brucato, so i think i may have had another problem.

Problems can crop up if the injectors were cleaned a month ago , just according to what was ran through them from day to day..

A set can be cleaned and calibrated and 1 tank full of crud can be ran through and your back to having a flooding set of injectors or no better that you were before they were sent..

problem fixed by hooking the wires together thanks for all the info!

excellent. 2 years is a long time to go without having injectors cleaned. jmo money well spent over burning a piston.

What wires you hook up together ????
Because I have the same problem , I changed ECU , injectors , harness , fuel regulator , the T . etc...
Thanks , Jose ...

i put the yellow wire with the black chaser from the wiring harness to the yellow wire with the red chaser from the ecu harness together works great, i guess just like its supposed to.
