I have 93 Bullet 20xd with a 1996 Mercury 225 Pro Max that has 2000 Power heads. I was told that for my boat and motor I needed a 25 pitch Turbo TXP prop right after buying the boat. Not knowing any better I bought one. My RPMs according to my tac is maxed out at 6400 (with no rev limit). with that prop I GPS my speed at 70mph. I ran a Hydromotive 27 pitch at the same rpms and ran 82mph. So my question is could my tac be stuck at the point of 6400 RPMs? Thanx for any help..

matco tools sells a diagnostic tac that all you have to do is point it at the engine and it will read rpm. its like 65 bucks great tool to have. i think you can get it online. it works on every thing ans it very acuate.

Ok thank you. Maybe you can help with my next question that I have been kicking around. I'm thinking about selling my Promax and getting a Optimax for fuel economy. There is absolutly nothing wrong with the Promax except the fuel consumption. Any thought bout going from a 2.5L to a 3L?

you just point it at the plug wire but it will only be acurate with a few feet.
