This might sound like a stupid question but i have to ask.
I have a 94 merc 150 xri and am removing the oil injection system, i have found a post on the site with pics and is very helpful, but it stated that you have to time the engine after this is done. I am trying to understand the reason why because it looks like i have not touched any part that would have moved it.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Daniel

I bet in the post they also removed the idle controll box. If you are only removing the oil injection there is no need to retime.

Is there any advantage to removing the idle control box,
this is the post i was looking at http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...ge2&highlight=, it has you removing two black boxes on the port side of the motor, not sure what they are. I just dont want to mess any thing up before i fire it up when i am done.
thanks

They are extra parts to fail, I have herd of them failing and advancing.
