I have a VHS tape, watching right now. I got this from a friend who messed with very expensive R/C boats.
Anyway, must have be recorded off the tube. Thing is, I can't figure what year, but was working with him at the time, and been out of work, (Retired) almost 17 years, so its gotta be close to 20 years ago. But is was the "Coors Lite, World Finals of Dragboat racing"
Starts out "Scimitar, Main Events Productions". Shot at Firebird/Chandler. Title is "Bad Boats". Its a fantastic tape! Great sound, and footage.
Let me see what I can tell, names, boats, Etc Starts out, a fire, on the rope. a black Hydro/purple stripes, name on side "Ron Steves". Then a lot of "rear squirts", blowers, and fire, then a bunch of 1/4 runs.
I'll try to catch any more names..(I'm starting and stopping it to type" One boat.."Top Gun". Just mentioned, ..drag racing has come a long way, now roll cages and Capsules". "Steve Younghans", rope stager. "Alan Winberry", announcer.
Now "Madness" Ron Braaksma. Now a shot, "Blown Crazy". Dean Kirchner. Ran T/A.. Now a series of crashing pix...(DAMN, chit goes wrong REAL FAST!). Now Fred Bray/Kyle Walker...
Now a girl with big tits, bikini. :eek::D:thumbsup:
Excellent footage, stuff gone wrong, ..(think you, you over the deck, faster than the damn boat!)
Interview, Bill Fauntleroy, "Line Line" safety stuff.
Kyle Walker, short talk.
Boats called "Hydro Fever" mentioned, "The Animal", and "You move me", "Bad Moon Rising"
Now, Explaining jet boat pop-offs, capsules.
Ends with more crashes, slo mo, good music, and the credits.
OK! watched the end, credits, and made 1990..I was RIGHT..20 YEARS ago!
OK, tape is a good 3 hours, now on is Offshore, done Scimitar. Same great quality footage, and sound. After..(not there yet, still on), is a show, "Splash and crash"..more funny stuff gone wrong, no any hurt driver, (probably pissed off though!), the end is my old bud, him and friends racing big R/C boats..circle racing, Drag racing in a pond, one funny, them in a boat, with the R/C boat behind them..(until it blew THEM away!):p
Anyway, I have to get this old VHS copied to a DVD..(can do at home), and if none know of it, or have any links, etc, well, I will copy it, (OK, edit on what said earlier...what I'm gonna do is see if I can find a link, or if not, I'll figure a way to get some the Firebird, up on youtube, after Holidays over. But bet I can find something online about it. Damn, everything else is nowadays!)
