Thanks Jay. I'm on the fence as to what to do with this thing. Its amazing how many different opinions are out there. Cut this, port that, deck this..................
Might just leave it stock and put in all new pistons, rings, bearings and bolts. Sounds simpler and safer then trying to squeeze 20-30 HP out of it and having to run a custom fuel curve.

I had a stock 200 SaltWater with the same cuts, the exhaust chest was opened up also. I'm sure I was the first one to split the cases and the cuts looked a little on the rough side.
Unless you're doing this a lot like Jay and the others, I would leave it as is. Changing the volumetric efficiency will also change jetting and often carb selection becomes critical. The guys that do it all the time know what works with what. You'll be trial and error and often frustrated.

The old girls stock, unless your gonna do alot more, I would leave alone, and maybe do some mild head work. Jeff

Started to say if you did all that with stock ECU write back after its broke in and you stand on it for a mile or 2...
I've found with stock ECU's you got to be real gentle with a grinder on Pro Max motors or after the next blow up and rebuild you'll be calling Tony..

oh so correct :iagree: those Merc ECU's are so prone to failure i would not even fire this motor on one and had 3 225 pmax boxs on hand but i also had a prior rebuilds behind me due to excessive compression
