I was at a Bass Pro this weekend and looked at that one and this one (http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-XPS-Platinum-Series-Flotation-Vests-for-Men/product/10202751/-1591173). They both seemed more comfortable than what I have now but the one I linked has the crotch straps. I also front this one poking around in the internet.

Kodiak Outback Online (http://qzmyl.gedqn.servertrust.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=R63%2D370ERV)
I got one of those Revere from Kodiak Outback webstore and they are nice. And for less than $50.00 they have
the leg straps, float collar, and the reflective strips for low light visibility. Of course the 100mph rating means the
jacket won't tear if you hit at that speed, doesn't say what will happen to you!!!

At least the jacket will be reusable.

Got the Revere Supply jacket in yesterday, it fits great and is pretty comfortable. The leg straps are totally detachable. Defnintely not going to have any impact protection, but its certainly better than a "regular" ski jacket

If your life is only worth 50 bucks then buy the one from Bass Pro.

You might get two boat seasons out of that jacket.

I agree with mirage243. What's your life worth?

The difference between a $50 jacket and a basic Lifeline won't always be evident until your life actually depends on it. "100 mph tested" is BS-- It means that they hung the weightless jacket from a string and drove something solid into it at 100 mph to ensure that it didn't come apart. Their bogus testing does not take the hydraulic forces of water impact into account. It does not mean the jacket won't rip clear from your body during a 100 mph water impact. Leg straps are useless if they rip out of the jacket under force. A $50 jacket may offer some initial impact protection, it may save you a few broken ribs, but it doesn't do a damn bit of good if you get knocked out, and the jacket gets ripped apart when you hit the water.

Hey, at least the divers that come to look for your body will be wearing the corect equipment for their sport and profession.

waiting...waiting...waiting...(for the excuse-makers to come out of the woodwork, saying "not everyone can afford a Lifeline", "I don't go that fast", etc. etc.)...usually, lots of those same folks who "can't" buy a $300 jacket always seem to be willing to drop more on a steering part or propeller-or worse yet, interior lighting and a subwoofer...then want everyone to help make them feel better about their decision to buy a $50 jacket...

Another requirement is a jacket that it's going to float the wearer face up when they're knocked out cold and waiting for someone to come cruisin by, and that may not happen quick enough to save a life... A standard jacket will likely roll the wearer on his face if unconcious because the arms, legs, and head weight will ballast the body forward unless the wearer is awake and still in physical enough condition to keep himself upright... A fishing jacket will only work if the wearer isn't hurt... A knocked out or temperarily paralized wearer in a fishing jacket is dead...

I need to get a pair of lifelines. I know it but I have some kind of mental block when it comes to shelling the money out to buy one. I mean I have no problem shelling out money for a prop that will just sit in my collection and probably not get used but I just can't bring myself to spend the money on a lifeline. I wear a neoprene ski jacket with crotch straps when I want to go fast figuring that it is better than nothing but when I am just cruising I often don't even wear one. I used to never wear a jacket until the guy who sold me my boat got tossed from his boat last summer and killed because he wasn't wearing one. I really need to read more threads like this so I can get it through my head to just bite the bullet, get a set of lifelines, and WEAR them. I think I am just the typical dumbass boater.

Let Me Say this As I start this Thread .... I never Said that The Bass Pro Shop Jacket was Anywhere Near As Good as A Lifeline.. Thats the Facts .. I know If you dont Have ,Or dont want to spend the money For a Lifeline Jacket ... The 100mph Jacket at Basspro shop Is a Nice step up from a Jet Ski Jacket .. It has Leg straps and Some Kinda Neck guard , LIfeLine Is the Best Jacket But we all Dont have $300 , And Not for Nothing ,But Half the People Run 100 mph with No jacket .. So A cheap Basspro shop Jacket Is better then Nothing ,And cheap
