do any of you guys that have hustler trailers use them in salt water? and if so what do you do to keep them from rusting?

The only thing I can think of (actually 2 things) Take it to an industrial park, sand blast the crap out of it ( be sure to take boat off:eek: ) then take it to a shop and have that bedliner stuff sprayed on! That will be the only thing to slow it on the outside. Nothing can help you with steal and salt water. Option number 2
Trade it in on a nice lightweight aluminum trailer!:D

that they rot from the inside out.
Just saw some where recent, an ad for a treatment for the inside of the frame??
If it was me, I'd try it and just deusche the hell out of it every time you pull it oput of the water.
Guess thats one advantage us Northerner's have, purdy trailers
If it's already got some age to it though Bobby, I doubt anything would do much good on the inside.

Good idea Lyle.
I knew an old Muscle car guy that did that to the trunk of every car he bought!

Yeah Bobby, Steel sucks down here, try living on a salt water canal.

At least in this area there are some local builders.

An air fitting somewhere on the frame of the trailer. Pressurize with air. Find where all the leaks are. Seal air leaks
Now salt water cant get into the inside of the frame.
Just a thought

Was hopin to see the new toy:( Oh well, bring it to the Rumble next year when it's runnin ;)
The ride sounds good if we have time??
The next couple days should be very interesting.
The plan is to hit the round around 6:00 P.M. tomorrow (after Donna gets home from work) and head for Holanta. If all goes well, looks like a 4:00 A.M. eta.
What time we get there will determine our schedule for the next two days!
I will keep you posted accordingly.
If it looks like it's going to be too late getting into your neighborhood Friday afternoon/night, we'll just get a room.
Not going to show up at your place late and wake every one up.
Looks like rain for Sat/Sun and if so, that will make it easier to take our time since we won't feel like we'll be missing anything.
Wish we had enough time to see all you guys in Fla on our way through!

Whatever you do, DON'T get a tube trailer. Aluminum I-Beams or galvinized C-Channel. Still need to was the heck out of it every time it's used, and springs and hubs are VERY vulnerable. They're still steel. An open frame trailer is a lot easier to keep clean and can't trap corrosives. Plus it's easy to wire and trouble shoot the wiring.

Once the Big C has started, especially on a tube trailer, It's not if but when. Start looking for replacements. Aluminum is lighter, if kept shiny and clean, looks better, and costs a lot more than galvanized. Galvanized works great. Mine's 8 years old, and still in great shape. Gets a lot of salt use. Springs and hangers are starting to go though.

My $0.04.

It looks like I have the same trailer you have only mine is galvanized, not painted. You could sell yours and buy the galvanized one, or possibly somebody here has an ugly galvanized trailer that theyre using in fresh water and they may trade you even. I run mine in saltwater so i cant give it up. mine says CUSTOM FRAMES on the side but also has a sticker that says made by EZ Loader.

Sand blast all the paint off, dill holes in the bottom of the frame about every 3' and have it hot dipped at your local Metalplate co.They will acid dip it then galvanize it.
