http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJcHOwE_bOw It felt like the key was turned off. Do switchboxes act like this? The controls and external wiring are new . This has happened 1/2 dozen times ,last time at idle everything cold, will not start after dying. Next day will start normally , I'm sure it's ignition as fuel pressure was fine at the time. Any ideas ? Glen

This will fix all of those gremlins that still hide under the cowling. Kit comes with 4 and 6 cylinder disk.

Here are some less expensive options for the same stuff:

I would check the distributor wires for cracks

Now I've watched the video ... I've never seen a switch box STOP like that. Check for 12v on both red and white terminals of the switch box. Then check the brown wire to the distributor, voltage should be the same. Check between black and white going to the distributor ... should be at least 3v. Less than 3 indicates a bad trigger. Green wire going to coil should be more than 100v when cranking.
To test the switch box by itself ... disconnect the 3 wires going to the distributor. Jump brown and white together ... then tap a ground wire to black. This simulates the signal from the distributor and should make spark.

I'm thinking trigger, but verifying it could be difficult. Trouble is you never know with parts 30 or 35 years old.

It's always a sudden stop, like turning the ign off. The trigger wires on the T-ll are inside a baided grounded cable that runs around the back of the motor to the intake side where all the ign parts are. It may be one of the wires inside the braided cable grounding out. It's about 2 ft. long , I think I would have to cut the terminals off to pull the wires out of this braided cable.I brought the ign pack home to check it out ,but the trigger wires and dist are still on the motor. We're finished for the year now. I took those vids 2 weeks ago not another boat on the lake not much wind, but blowing the wrong way took me 3/4 of an hour to paddle in. Next time I go to the lake it will be snow and ice time.
