whats up with this motor, going on the 5th one now... it's almost like you need to carry a spare.. Any suggestions

Carry a spare coil, compressor, and oil tank sensor and you should be able to make it home. Injectors are optional but only if you have a Seatow policy.

Marty at Diamond hooked me up with up a spare, good thing is will get on plane down one cylinder.top rpm drops to about 800 less. did some checking and it seems to be the original ones that fail,5 mins to change..5/16 socket and it's done. I hope anyway ...

Call Mercury tech support and tell them what is going on. They will send you out a complete set of new coils. I ahd the same issue with my 250xs's. They shipped me 12 coils free of charge. They might also want you to switch out the coil harness.
