what exactly do they look like? do they all have holes in them. I tore my motor down and th epistons have the flat spot but no holes.

seen some without holes before, the holes let oil through to lube the bridge, while ya have it apart drill theholes in them for lubrication

The early bridgeport pistons were "relieved" with the flat at the
bridge. That didn't cure the bridge heating problem, so Mercury
came up with the skirt holes (usually 2) to lubricate and thus cool the bridge.
The late bridgeports were pretty reliable with this mod.
