I know many consider ford power in a chevy to be a sin.... And vice versa... But I have a 81 camaro in really nice shape except for the motor. And I have a 06 mustang totalled out body wise but the motor and tranny are perfect. How big of a ordeal would I have to go thru for this motor install. I figure fuel tank replaced or modified and some custom mounts and driveshaft etc. Any reason it wouldn't work? I can shove another 350 chevy in it easy, but a modern fuelie ford motor would be kinda cool and different. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply Bruster... Got any free saturdays? I'll fly you down for the weekend. One day for the engine install, one running my stream on the caloosahatchee river as fast as you want to go in it.....

Hey Man, if it's seems like it would be a healthy project to keep Your hands dirty and your mind sane then go ahead... If Your gonna disrupt the pedigree then do it all the way and supercharge, spray, or turbo that thing... The mod motors really respond to it, but just really good tough engines in general...

Thanks for the info....I have plans of putting a supercharger on it. But the first thing is to get it runnin... My idea is to transplant all the parts and harness ass. from the stang over to the camaro. The way this came about is, a couple of weeks ago my son got run off the road by a drunk with no ins and the stang was totaled. Thank God no one was hurt. but he is just sick/depressed over the loss of his car. It was his HS grad. present. We went to the dealer and ordered it together. This car looked and ran like new. Lots of sentimental value. My old camaro has been sitting for 5 years with no motor, and I was hoping to have a project for us to work on using whats left of the stang and re- build the camaro. It may help him get over the loss of his car. I know you guys understand how some of us really love their cars/boats. We cant stand the idea of just junking the stang. Besides it would be cool to pop the hood and see a ford mill sitting in the camaro. Trying to make something good out of a bad situation.

if it is a 3 valve ford makes a harness/computer with throttle by wire if it is a 2 valve you need to go with a dieted harness or aftermarket cpu.
carefull how much you boost it anthing over 6lbs with stock internials is pushing it

Believe it is a 3 valve..... Maybe I am completely wrong, but I would think that by using the complete harness from the stang and just installing all the sensors etc. that come with it, should give the computer the signals to correctly run the engine. The stang is a 06 which I believe has a throttle by wire already. The only glitch I read about, is that the anti theft system will have to be disabled by a re -flash of the stock puter. Like wise with the airbag system.I plan to use a blower that is in a kit that you can get for stock mustangs. Really just looking to get reliable/streetable performance. I'm sure I will find many more problems to solve as it goes along. Went to the ford store and checked out the new stangs. They are a lot stronger performers than the 06 was. Like everything about the 10-11 cars except the look of the rear of the car. Those new coyote engines are bad azz motors for a stock 5 liter. The manual I drove, got rubber in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd......

an 06 is a 3 valve with all the hassle involved with stripping out the harness removing what you do not need and reflashing to do away with pats(key security) Personally I would buy the ford piece which is plug and play but its not my money
check this site and search 3 valve for tips on engine swaps ffcars.com

Thanks Berzerko, You are right.... I will check out the ford harness pcs. I do appreciate the info...Not a mechanic, just an old boat builder. Simpler is better in almost any situation. And i can see now, what your telling me is to go with a more basic system. Also, I looked a ffcars, and theres a ton of cool stuff on there. Getting my old camaro going again to pull my Hydrostream is a project that I have had waiting for a long time. V-Kings done, now it's the chevy's turn. My old muscle car towing my old hotrod boat is about as good as it gets for me....

ya you have to use every thing out of the 06 for it to run it can be done i have put 4.6 corbra motores in fox body mustangs and you need the wireing out of the car to make it work
