here i am sitting in the record boat at the orlando boat show. it was '74-'75. my dad got the merc factory to bring it in for the show. i would venture a guess that there weren't to many butts in that cockpit over the years besides Merten's and mine. this was quite a show and tell in school the next week ha-ha.

I have a copy of that poster, it is very difficult to photograph due to the glossy finish. Here's my scan of a photograph of it:

I remembered you posting that picture previously Sam. Since we were talking about T4's in another thread, tragically Jim Mertens, who was pictured in this hydro, was killed while testing a T4. I can't remember the details now, but would like to remember the type boat if anybody does.

Jim was killed while testing a tunnel for Mercury. Yes it was a T4 boat and yes it was very fast.

Imagine the pipes on the boy who was in charge of roping that puppy over??
Ever see the time Jerry Walin's crew had roping over the Johnson Gas V-4 Stacker ? I have that run on video.

Always wondered, one pipe?? Whatsup wit dat"?

136 mph back then ( not sure what year that was ). Very interesting thread. Seems there's nothing like a Mercury. Or shall I say a Mercury powered boat.

I know everyone has their own preference.
