What would be considered the best year for a carbed 175? The reason that I ask is that I don't want to exceed the boat rating for insurance reasons. However, future mods under the cover are my business. Maybe an XR6 and tweak from there. What do you think?

jim,if you're talking hydrostream power,i'd look for a 1991 & up 2.5 , i get the insurance gig, but ......i ran a brand new 2.4 175 on my 1985 vector , bobs coned case with torquetab,26 inline chopper ,and a bobs jackplate that i wore the adjusters out of.dont really know how fast it went back then (would peg an 80 mph mercury speedo), it was a blast on smooth water! i even skied behind it a bunch....after i had it a while ,i wanted more power.i'm just sayin!
