Saw this thing on Fiberglassics. I thought with the Contender I had relieved my 'want another boat disease', but if I could find one of these I'd put a Johnson 3 cyl 75 on it in a heartbeat.

Made by Mertens Marine in Oshkosh in the late '70's according to the owner. Looks like a 50's boat to me.

Ya mama! Make it a center steer, single seat, find a 75 Stinger, paint the boat to match the stinger colors!

I love some of those old glass boats.

The old wood boats all look the same to me. Some of the glass ones were really unique.

Yep! You can only form wood so much...and with the advent of FG...boat design went way outside the box! I love checking out Fiberglassics, a winter day, go through all the old brochures! Brings back a chithouse old mems. My dad, before I was born, had a "barrel back" CC. I have a vid of him, in it, that was took old film. My brother took all the old movies he found after he passed, and my mom, and did them to VHS, years ago. I need, over winter, to watch it..(also copy to DVD), and take my cam, and do a movie off the screen, him in the boats he had. And him and my brother, 10 years older, got me started boats at 5, in 1955. I have to admit, I was born at the right time, the after the war years, and the 50's/60's/70's...were the best times, in US history!
I spent EVERY WEEKEND OF MY YOUTH..."in a boat".."at the "lake!"

Belongs to a guy who's screen name is Vspeedster over on Fiberglassics. He's in Minneapolis.

Can you imagine the looks you would get at the ramp in that thing?

That one needs to go down to Florida to Gary MacNorius for a real restoration.

Agree, as never in 55 years in boats, NEVER saw one, and lived not that far from Oshkosh, back then, in Illinois. Thats a REAL classic design..who cares how it might handle....thats a real "boat launch"..what the hell is that thing!"
