280 reed cages

I have 3 or 4 broken reed cages in my 280. Do these things break often? Is there a cage that I can replace them with that won't break? I already sent 1 small piece of cage through the motor and got super lucky, I don't really want to try my luck a second time. It has 7 peddle cages with carbon fiber reeds in it right now. I know the old 5 peddle sport jet cages are the best, but are there any out there?

Cages "live" a very long time unless someone gets "heavy handed" with them in torquing them to the reed plate. I have tricks that I use to keep the cages from breaking. Give me a call and I'll explain.
