I have an 89 2.4 200 merc block....bought the motor pretty cheap but it had low compression in all cly...have torn it down and all the cly have the nic rubbed...looks like it was rebuilt and steel rings were put into the motor by mistake...what are my options to fix..and can anyone give me a good guess at the cost of doing so.....

If it is a 2.4 then it is probably Crome. And if the problem is on all the cylinders then your options are to have them all sleeved or send it off to US CROME and have the block nickasil plated . Or.. There is a newly replated block here being sold here on Scream and fly.. He only wants 800 OBO which is a great deal.

IT can't be just bored out.. It would have to be bored then sleeved. And they normally charge $225 per hole and some will do all 6 for about $1000... I would buy that one guys replated block that is being sodl here on screamandfly... Or send yours out and have it replated.
