What's the stock rev limit on an 89 200 Mariner carb motor and how do you change it?

I don't think carb motors have a limiter.

Yea, no ECU, no limiter right. That's what I thought.

It's actually a 1992 Mariner 200

Remove the timing advance module...That will retard your timing on the high end which acts as a crude rev limiter....Make sure your full advance timing is @ 23-25 degrees....I have done lots of research this week on it....Correct TDC is critical when setting timing....there are a lot more RPMs /power if your timing is below these numbers! Will I be able to turn 6500 with it as it is or is 5500 the stock limiter?

Turning 6500rpm and actually making horsepower at that rpm are 2 different things. Prop it to 56-5800rpm as that is peak hp, maybe 6000 with modules gone. JMO
