i took it from a powerhead but can't seem to match it up , dated 10 96 i think it was a long block replacement , but wanted to see if members could verify that

:icon_bs:It's a framastat off a CL-19 firing valve on a 688 class fast attack submarine.

Seriousely though Alan. Exactly where did you (location) get the number from? If it is a serial number it doesn't correspond with a 96 block as from 1986 on used letter designators as a prefix to the numbers..

behind the timing arm , it dos'nt match any of my 260s and we cant find the number in any reference . I pulled a cylinder head and from a quick look it appears to be a virgin 260 block all nick no port work , but the owner swears its a drag , im guessing it was a complete drag that popped a powerhead and was replaced with a 260 long block and never finished , the swivel number tag reads void void void , the owner wants to bring it to me to finish it, its missing injectors and alot of wiring it dose have an a63 box and the correct regulator , but somethings up , looks like some one fell out with a mechanic and took it away unfinished

I agree that number doesn't come up as any legit part number. it also doesn't correspond with any 260 I am aware of. Your assumptions are most likely right on. Have you measured the port maping yet? If you don't have one PM me your e-mail and I'll send you one.

You could pull the divider plate and tell whether its a 260 or Drag

yeah thats kinda my gut feeling , but if he drops it off in the am . it'll take about 5 minuates with a caliper and scale rule to tell what he's got, hope he's not to broken up by the truth,
