Why would anyone take a drag motor or any motor and port through the side of the block. Devcon on the side of a motor looks like something that come out Fred Sanford's junk pile. I figure Mercury spent alot of time getting port configuration the way it needs to be. I just have not ever seen any major horsepower increase by porting through the side of the block. Maybe someone can tell me why someone would do this.

that happens when you open rod slots, and is not considered a stressed area so pig putty is used to fill is hole.

We use Epoxy as when one is porting the intake side of the block you will go through on occation and these holes must be sealed. The Mercury Drag Motors or any Mercury block that is to be taken out to the full potiential must be ground in that area to enhance flow and that area is VERY thin that is why you will go through with porting tools !If people think a Drag Motor out of the box with no grinding will compete in World Class competition such as ODBA in the Modified Motor classes , think again !
