I just bought a 25" Mariner 200 and a 20" 150 XR2. They both appear to be mid to late 80s motors. I want to put the 200 powerhead on the 20" mid/lower from the XR2.

The XR2 trim is very quiet and slow compared to the 200. The 200 sounds more like what I'm used to. The XR2 trim seems to run fine though. Is that normal?

Can I use the XR2 exhaust adapter and just bolt the 200 powerhead on or will the tuner be to restrictive?

Anyone forsee any problems ahead for this swap?

The 200 will drop on no problem, as for the trim as long as it works should be good.

Found the answer today. The 200 did bolt right up but I had to drill and tap 4 5/16" 18 holes in the front of the exhaust adapter to mount the front cowl pan bracket for the Mariner. I also had to swap the arm on the shift shaft because the Mariner front cowl bracket makes the arm a little longer and angled up a bit for clearance.

See the tap and me holding the front cowl pan bracket. Clean looking midsection isn't it! Was a nice score, got both motors for $2500
