I'm in the process of redoing a lower too. Mine was cracking at the seam. Mine has the stock water inlets welded up. What type of filler did you use?

to give you an idea. I run my 18 action with a bob lwp 1 1/2 above the outside of the pad. no matter what prop it always runs real well there. hope this help. Jimmy

Looks like water pressure from inside blew that piece out.

I used the Bob's S$IT and Bondo ... The cone is welded on .. I just dont have $500 to ship it to Bob's Or Mr Scott ...
I am going to be looking for a CLE or Sportsmaster soon ....

08-17-2010, 09:05 PM
yea That what It was .. Fiberglass Filler ??? ( It blew Out in front of the water jackets )

It maybe 1 1/2 above the pad .. But I am going to Lower the bolt on the motor And try again ...

Who would have thought these action Turned that good 10 mph sharp turn and given you the real change back

What Da Bull Said. Unless you have the stock water inlets welded up, you won't have much luck with anything you try. You can try threading and installing set screws for a temp. fix it then use epoxy over them but, thats just a temp. fix. You have the rite idea looking for a sportmaster.

This worked for me but I wont guarantee it. Fill the inlets backup with epoxy , then when it dries drill a small pressure "relief" hole thru the epoxy, it lets some water pressure out and shoulndt blow the side out any more. Still had good PSI on the gauge.

Boat looks good, my action would try its hardest to chuck you out of it at 50-60 when the motor was too low. If the prop shaft centerline was any less then 1in above the boat was a mess. 1.5 above is where it came alive but higher i went the better it handled till i lost water pressure just under 2in above. I could go 95+ with my hands behind my head but not many people liked seeing that :leaving: :D

Soon i hope, I have the cushions being worked on right now. I'm hoping to get the boat home soon so i can work on it more. I've been real busy at the shop so I havent had much time to work on it. It just needs the interior finished and rigged. I'm hoping to get the motor and the jack plate painted soon.

Are you talking about chine walking?? If so, give it more throttle, and drive thru it, even my 24 pantera does that, problem is, I dont have any throttle left to drive out of it with my little 250:D

I know the answer but I am not a driver. Drive her, small inputs on the wheel opposite the direction she wants to lean. You ever seen Beef drive his? Baja too, Up on the wheel and working it. Go about it with respect for the great unknown and it will come to you. Setup may help that a bit too. I never spent enough time behind the wheel to get good at it, but the Stream could be driven past the chine walk with a little more throttle and steering.

you just cant drive below 65 70 or so and you need to stab it out each time till you get it leveled out
they are a speed boat not a cruiser
thats about all remember i myself never had a hydraulic jack on mine thats why i said set it one inch below for your lowest point then raise it till you loose water pressure

That boat should handle just fine at cruising speeds. If it's porpoising at slower speeds, you might have too much trim. My boat never rides poorly at any speed. As for the chine walk, it's gonna want to fall off the pad when you get it going fast enough. The only way to get through the chine walk is direct driver input on the steering. You have to bump the wheel in the opposite direction that the boat is falling. If it's a side steer, it will want to fall to the right. you have to bump it slightly to the left to keep it balanced.

:iagree: My action never hopped or anything at any speed on plane. also if your not an experienced pad V driver messing with that hyd plate while your driving is not gonna help you learn. The boat will handle/drive different at each engine height set it on the trailer and go get some seat time!

Couldn't agree more. Sometimes the worst thing to put on a boat is a hydrualic plate. You really have to leave it at one setting and see what it does. Then make adjustments from there. I don't remember the last time I changed the height on my manual plate.

When I trim It to level the Boat run ok But Bump the Trim just a little more .. It jumps out of the water and throws you side to side ... I tried to power throw it and It felt likethe boat wanted to flip back...

Action Dave Come Over and Show Me how to drive this Boat ... It has a Lot More power Just do want to flip or roll the boat .. I have my Life jacket and Kill switch But I cant dump $4,000 on something I F up and roll it ..

It sounds like the boat is popping onto the pad like they do, you just aren't used to that feeling so you're not sure if it's running right. Best thing to do is have one of the SE FL guys show you the ropes. I was going to offer to meet until I realized you were 150 miles south of me.

You won't roll it but it's gonna be a terrible ride untill you learn how to handle the chine walk. All pad v-bottoms are like that. Where do you usually run? I can meet up almost anywhere in Broward, although I prefer Key Largo.

Ull need some seat time then more seat time then big balls then more seat time and big balls then MORE seat time...
It took me over a year and two different boats to finally master driving one of these.
Once u get the driving down it the best feeling in the world.
There are alot of fast actions guys on this board so just keep the questions coming.
If the engine height, trim, weight distribution, prop are wrong or setup incorrectly it will take twice as long to learn how to drive it.
Good luck and be safe

Don't know if this will help your problem....But here you go... I get my V-King running with the trim down to keep it under controll. At about 3500-4000 rpms I hit the trim and throttle at the same time. The hull jumps on the pad in seconds with the correct running angle and packs air for lift. Think the trick is to get the hull out of the water and flying....Most small fast boats don't like the transition from skimming the water to flying. Do it quick....BTW V-Kings are known for porpoise and china wok.....So I feel your pain...

Level the boat, then level the motor. Then mark the prop shaft center line on the side of the case (not the bottom of the case). Start with it about .5 above and go up from there. Keep in mind my action had a motion bottom (flat pad) so the happy engine height will be different on your concave pad but 1bad or dave should be able to point you in the right direction

so this is how you can truly tell them apart is the flat pad was on the motion and the concave was on the action

Some of the actions had flat pads (non concave) also. It all depends on the size and year.
