black connecting rod 140 looper

hello 1st post here , i have a 1992 140 looper , 1 port piston had no compression , tore it down piston ring pinched ,have new piston to replace but rod is blackened, is it safe to reuse this rod??? thanks george

The rods in those motors had a "dual color" to them even when new. My rule of thumb has always been to never use a rod that was connected to a blown/stuck piston.
