hey, i have a 21' Olympia which is pretty much the same as the actions, and paramounts. Im in the process of putting a new motor on the boat and lookin at the 250 vmax 20" shaft. I had a 25" shaft on it before but always had it jacked up. Does anyone know if the boat can take a 20" shafted outboard comfortably. I do alot of trollin and tubing and water sports, so its not just a go fast boat for me. i have a manual jack plate aswell. thanks

It should be a 20" transom so you should be alright.

All the paramounts used a 25" motor, for sure. What does your transom height measure at the center? This will determine everything.

I was at the Paramount factory a few years ago when I was getting ready to rig mine. Darryl said a 20" motor would be fine, especially if you had some setback. I set it up with a 6" setback jack set all the way down. With a Laser prop it would vent pretty bad getting on plane. I switched to a 24" chopper II and never had a ventilation problem again. The only slight regret is a 25" motor would not get as wet idling around in the rough.

There was just a like new, all white, Olympia 21 on E-Bay in Ohio, that was selling for very fair money. Always was a freshwater boat too. Had a like new 200 Merc on it, on a trailer. Anyone out there pick it up?

not true! Can you install a 20" motor with a low water intake gearcase, with a setback bracket, on a 21 Paramount? Sure you can. But Daryl designed the 21 Paramount for a stock 25" shaft outboard, that comes with a standard water intake gearcase, flat on the transom, as 95% of them were rigged when new. I rigged at least 30 new 21's that way anyways...but I could be wrong.

How much setback did your jackplate have? Thinking of putting one on mine.
