Hey guys,

It's a 1995 2.5L 200XRi

I have a ringing noise, sort of like a tuning fork ring. That's the best I can explain it. Maybe it was there before maybe not. I'm not sure.

I just threw it back together for vacation. I got it hot. Tore it down, the rods were blue on the outside of the small ends, insides had a slight gold tint. Two pistons scuffed.

I removed the aluminum from the 4 + 5 holes, honed all 6 cyls., replaced two pistons, new rings, needle bearings and lock rings for the pistons. Reused the big end bearings, kept them all with the correct rods. The bearings may not all have gone back in the same direction though? Reused the crank bearings.

Reassembled using Amsoil synthetic oil on everything. Broke in with Premium Quicksilver oil and Premium fuel.

I have a G-force exhaust tuner(stainless sheet metal), plastic reeds.

So the noise? Rod bearing? Crank bearing? Been there the whole time, I just never noticed it before?

I know I didn't put this thing back together properly, maybe should have replaced the rods.

As always, all opinions are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

Any ideas on the ringing? I had a friend listen, he heard the same thing. Sounds like a tuning fork.
