There is a Best Western and a Days Inn [used to be Holiday Inn Expresss] in Chiefland. They have some good rates and only about 6 miles from the Fanning Springs boat ramp. Chiefland also has several good restaurants too.

Is any one gonna be there with a boat like mine I reall need to try some props before i go buy one, the 25p High five is turning too many RPM's

Tom Foley
08-24-2010, 08:53 PM
Not sure where anyone would get the notion that someones personal props are for anyone to try . They break , and when they do , you own them . I wouldn't expect many people would go loaning props to try for the hell of it . Based on common knowlege of your boat you need a 28 and a 30 , always carry a spare prop and tools to change it , especially on the River ....long walk home .

I'm not willing to loan my new 30 Triton or my trusty 30 Chopper II but I do have a [actually two] 32 ChopperIIs that you could try if you have the horsepower to turn one, I don't have the ponies to turn them.

BTW, for any that might be going, on priceline.com a room at the Days Inn Chiefland is only $52.00 per night.

What a great weekend, it just does not get better than the Suwannee. I saw plenty FGC/Sherrif/FWS Officer there but as usual they were super friendly to us and always returned a friendly wave. Maybe they just realize how wonderful all Allison Pilots are!!!

The Days Inn in Chiefland was also a terrific place to stay and the staff was very friendly. It was good to see Parker, Jo Anne and some of the rest of the Scream and Fly crew there.
We even made it through the weekend without breaking any of our water toys and only getting sunburned yesterday [12+ UV day all day long] while rafted in the cool water of Ichetucknee springs.

We burned enough fuel with the boat and PWCs to let the Arabs build another Mosque...what a shame.

Let me apologize from the get. I only seen one blue and white Allison all day Sunday. All but once ( I think you passed us four times) we were going opposite directions and the wake the Whaler puts off nearly put you in the trees the last time.:o I kept looking for the hot rod skis to put a face wit the name. I hear you about the fossil fuel. Went from Suwannee north to Stienahatchee for scallops Sat. Then went from the Gulf to the Ichetucknee Sun. Then from the Gulf to Manatee Springs Mon. Even on the cheap stuff it starts to add up. (250 miles and marina gas at $3.55.) I will say running the Santa Fe as twisty and narrow as it is seemed crazy (first time)but boat traffic seemed low compared to the fourth.

My A-boat seems to spend more time in the air than in the water when there are lots of wakes. My Wife hates it when I jump like that over the big wakes.

The great thing is that it always comes down with the wet-side-down. That is really spooky when I hit a big wake while driving in a Mirage/Stv about whether the sponsons will dig in. I did stab the nose to the Grandsport on Saturday while crossing a wakeboard wake that had the ballast sacks full.

The jet skis were always way behind us since they can't cruise above 70 like the boat can.
