it looked like a standard mercury ecu with a knob on the side of it and he told me it was a merc ecu that are getting harder to find.

Most ALL of the Hi Per Mercury ECU's have adjustable fuel curves, (nothing new ) . All you need is a DDT/OTC to see how much your moving the pot that adjust the fuel curves rich and lean...Some have an external pot like a "steam wheel " that can adjust the curve on the fly, again very common , I had one of those on my analog ECU in 1994

I believe that maybe the camouflaged version of the Mercury ECU with Tony Brucato’s’ PCU/ACU inside.

The ddt is mercurys version of a scan tool, there is a version from otc as well.

There is a set screw on the ecu the ddt only shows you where it is set at as far as rich or lean from it's factory settings.

You should have some type of EGT, way of watching your exhaust temps before you start playing with your fuel curve-mixture. JMO

You want to have a EGT gauge for sure.

Do not attempt to adjust on the ecu without a ddt to tell you where you are!!!!!!!!!!
Rapair (sp?) did one for me with the potentiometer.

With a steamwheel or potentiometer is one thing cause it has a much courser adjustment. My statement about not doing it without a DDT was in reference to the fuel pot built into the back of Hi Perf ecu's. It has a very fine adjustment
