To follow please find photos of a 1958 Switzer Shooting Star powered by a Mercury 45 also a 1958. This wood hull was found sitting on a burn pile until it was saved and completely restored to its originaly condition. Boating World magazine referred to this boat as one of the top 10 Sport boats of the 50's. The owner of this boat would like to sell, if you have any interest you can contact me at 847/395-8110 or tradewindsmarine@mindspring.com Thank you Tricia

Tricia, any ballpark figure on the price????? That boat sure needs an old inline 6 like a Mark 75 or Mark 78.

Raceman - my husband said that you would be the man to talk to to help to put a price on this boat. Since I don't have any vintage boat experience it was difficult for me to advise the seller on an asking price. The owner said that there is only seven of these boats known to exist with his being the most pristine that he has seen. He was thinking that an asking price of $16,500. would be a good place to start. As I said I could not tell him if that amount would be an acceptable starting point. I'm sure if there is a collector out there that really wants this particular boat then maybe that price would be fine, but for the average joe I wouldn't think so. Please let me know what you think. Thanks Tricia

Tricia, I have no idea what the old vintage stuff will bring. I dropped out of the AOMCI several years ago, but found the group collectively to be possibly the tightest on the planet. I see most of the antique outboard type guys around here doing a lot of trading of 3 and 400 dollar stuff as far as old boats, but who knows what the right collector might pay.

My real interest is in the black race stuff from the 70's, but the internet is proving to me that I have no idea what some folks will pay for it.

There's no question that it's an awful neat piece though. Thanks for sharing the picture.

To my Knowledge the boat still has not sold, Seller was trying to get $16,500.00 I thought that was a bit too high, he was hoping a collector would come along and buy it. Thank you Tricia
