I'm very new to V-drives but not to water craft... Sea Doo's, I/O and outboards in the past...
I'm in the market for a cruiser to run the Sacramento/Stockton Delta, speed is not a big deal since a good amount of the time the water dictates keeping it under 30-40mph. Gas efficiency is a big deal, the boat will be used constantly on the weekends.
Purpose, to run around the delta and serve as sea-doo parts/tool depot(100lbs of crap).
Things we would like,
Smaller V8
Rode in a V Drive with a th400 and kind of sold on it
jet boat/v drive look
To seat 4 and 5 at max(take 4 and if the sea-doo craps one more)
Around the 20' mark
Need help on what hulls to avoid or buy, looking for low maintenance and reliable set ups. This is going to be used by the family and all but 2-3 of us can fix things. Fuel usage is huge as it will be used constantly and damn Sea-Doo's cost an arm and a leg already.
Any info on fuel usage of a small block vs a big block at cruise? Not really sure what questions to ask sellers?
