my wife and i have a 1 acre peice of property in baiting hollow ny. the lot is one block off the sound and all the homes on the block are 3000sq plus. the lot is a level 1 acre lot and second floor of home will be sound view, has a curb cut but needs to be cleared cesspools added and all. my question is what will it cost me to build a 3000-4000sq ft home?? i can do interior work myself if needed to save money. have friends in all aspects but the actual foundation and structure. any ideas?????? are modular homes any good?????? trying to figure out if we should sell property and buy a house done or build our dream home want somthing well built if we build here were here for ever lol thank you chris

I know here in FL, for a home that size you'd probably be in the $150+ per s.f. for a nice custom home and better level finishes, so what's that equal in NY dollars??? 2x??? :p :D :D My guess is 1 to 1.2 mill.

wow that high huh value of homes on the block range from 1mil to 550k so no reason to spend that kind of money on building a house not to mention way out of my price range a mobile home it is lol chris

i thought it would be guess it makes more sense to just buy a home already built then seems cheaper no??? i just figured i own the property out right and it would be cheaper for me to build a home then try and sell property and buy another home

I would think with the housing market being what it is right now buying a house would be cheaper than building.
