Where does the ground wire that comes off the top of the ECU go to?

If you are sure that it is a ground wire then any place on the engine block will do. Just make sure it is clean and tight.

If it has a ring on it, it usually goes to one of the bolts holding the ECU on. JMO

I know one goes to the top stud, but where does the other end go, does it go to one of the torx bit driven screws on the front of the motor? The wire I'm talking about is #8 in the pic, the top wire, and for some reason, I can't make the image bigger.

That ground wire ring goes in the top left manifold cover screw just behind the ECU. You need to take the ECU back off to back the screw out and put the ground wire on there first. Then you put the ECU back on and put the other ground ring on the top left stud. That's how I do it.

There is one problem with that type of ground. Item #5 is rubber and tha tha studs don't go all tha way thru or make contact with each other. So you need to check it............

It doesn't go together according to the pic, it grounds out the ECU by the top nut, then to the manifold cover, now I need to figure out what to do with an extra ground wire I have left over and where that one goes.

There are two other ground wires that the ring goes through the manifold cover screws. One goes through a lower left manifold cover screw and then to the right bottom starter mount bolt. The other also goes through one of the lower left manifold cover screws and then to the number 15 screw in the diagram. Hope that helps.
