Sounds like motor ran a little warm, sleeve spun because of to much clearance between sleeve and block size. You can have the block jug bored to a .010 or .020 over od sleeve. New bore size should be .0025 to .004 smaller than od of new sleeve. With a good working cooling system you should be fine. Jeff

How badly is the sleeve damaged? I just removed 2 sleeves in an OMC looper and re-positioned them. Very easy to do as long as you have an oven you don't mind baking the block in. Heat it to approximately 500 degrees and the sleeve can be pulled out. Let the sleeve cool but keep block in oven. After sleeve cools just drop it back into block making sure it is indexed correctly. It will bind up pretty quick so make sure it is where ya want it before dropping in hole.

This seems to be common in the 2.4 150xr4 i have had 5 of them in line to rebuild in the last couple of years i just tore one down last week that had been rebuilt last year sometime and it spit a new .015 piston out for some reason the other 5 look brand new any way one of the sleeves spun a little bit just like every one of the 5 i worked on had 1or2 sleeves that spun they were too loose so it warms up maybe a little too much and it spins. you can buy oversize sleeve's and have the block oversized they should be .004 smaller then the outside of the sleeve so it does not spin when it heats up just my .02 . ask Mach 351 he can make them XR4's sing :D

well it looks like its gonna be oversized sleeve replacment and a look at the coolimg system again, apparantly
its not doing its job! i have some pics i will try and post although they are not the graetest.the reason for resleving
is because i need to have some welding done on the block.
