Not many people understand that in order for viruses, adware and spyware to become resident on your computer and make modifications to your Windows computers registry there has to be a certain level of security present to allow it.
99.999% of all home computers are set up so that you, the user, are granted full administrative priveledges. This is done so you can load all of your software and configure your computer the way you like it.
Once your computer is configured, you should create a basic user account and use that to logon when you're surfing the internet. Software cannot install without you knowing it because even if you answer "Yes" to an install, you won't have the priveledges or rights to install it.
