BEWARE...BAD seller!

I would just like to give everyone a heads up on a terrible seller, liar, scammer and ripoff artist.

Goes by the board name...

To make a very long story short, I bought a cowl back in beginning of April, got the cover and IMPO it was a real POS.
Call him immediatly up on receiving it,
hey John what did you send me here? not even close to what you said it was (keep in mind I had asked for pictures he never produce, Red flag). Yes, I trusted his word that it was in great condition and went ahead with the deal.
I decided it knowing it would never be used by me, it will be best to send it back which I did that same day after he assured me he would return my funds plus shipping because he misrepresented it.
10 weeks later no response after numerous attemps by calls, emails or PM's.
So he got the cowl back and the money! He turned out to be a REAL dirtbag!

PS, Be very careful if this guy contacts you to sell something. I think he will be leaving here very soon anyway!

The ENTIRE seam was soo bad it was about to come apart. Never saw one like it :eek:

The pan was cracked in 3,4 places and the plate was so corroded that you needed at least 3 Phead gaskets to make it seal. He painted it with a brush and poured the paint on to smooth out the corrosion :eek:

To make matters worse I found a note inside from someone that had returned it to him already :mad: When I asked him about the note he said he never did ship it to him :icon_bs:

I also feel that these are not the best threads at times but are VERY important for more reasons than one.
1- To hopefully get the seller or buyer to do the right thing.
2- To let buyers or sellers think twice, long and hard, if they plan on scamming or ripping us off because they will be brought to every ones attention on here.
3- To make sure they conduct business the proper way so they do not get bashed on here.
4- To make everyone aware if they get solicited by person like this guy, just like I did.

Sorry to hear you consider him a friend.
I have sent him numerous emails and left him numerous VMessages on both lines with no response. I have even emailed his dad Jack Krupa 3X's because the payment went to his PP account and the only response I got was from PP after they made contact with them to tell me they could not help me because it was a person to person transaction. Even Greg on here has sent him a few messages.
Bottom line he is a dirt bag!!
BTW, The transaction took place 4/17 and the cowl was sent back the same day i got it, I have the signed receipt for it by him.
FYI, I had spoken with him 2 days prior to him getting it back and he said he was going to reimburse my money and call the minute he got, never did.

If this deal has gone bad because of things going REALLY bad for John in his personal life, I am hoping that things will get better for him and that he will be willing and able to make this deal right.

Just my 2 cents worth.................. I love boating and most of the boaters that I meet. I have met a lot of good people through many years of being involved with boat racing and I hope that we can continue many great traditions.

What was up with this deal is he sent me a cowl not close to what he said it was. I called him when i got it, expressed my findings and dislikes he said send it back and i'll reimburse your money and never did. Not even a phone call.

IMPO, If he was having financial problems he should of said it when I called to send it back. Not have me spend even more money to send it back knowing dawn well IMO he was not going to return the funds.

It took this thread for me to find out what was Jon's problem as to why he would not return my calls or the funds.
IMO, He could have helped himself by just simply making contact with me and telling me the truth but no he chose to ignore me and hoped I went away. I assured him from the biginning that I was not going away! We could have talked it out and worked on a deal like $20 per month if that was what it would have taking to make it right. Like I have said before he might of even got me on a good day and I may have said keep the money, feel better and keep thinking positive :thumbsup:
BTW, Both his phone lines are working, so NO excuse for NOT keeping the dialogue going!


PS, The other thing that could have helped was his dad responding to one of my three emails and telling me what was going on. But he never responded but did remove the funds from PP plus declined the refund with the dispute :confused:

BTW, To answer your question about refunding for just the cowl less shipping the answer at this point is NO. He needs to cover everything.

**Let me not forget to mention that I tried to take the high road last night when I first responded to your TOO BAD response by editing my first response and giving you the benefit of the dougt, guess I was right. Very glad you qouted my first response. Thank you! Now you can actually see how I really felt!

Does this business that you generate help Greg pay the bills here? If so I am sure that he would be interested in hearing how that works.

what i have found in situations like this is usaually the seller thinks they did no wrong and they have a dozen or so freinds come on here stating they are good guys. funny thing is one of the guys that posted about the bad engine i bought came on and said he cant believe it cause the seller always treated him good. now this individual got stung good on a deal and is crying the blues, it took all i had not to post that the seller is a good guy. in the end you end up with alot of stress over something that will most likely not get resolved , so for the most part you are better to just eat it than to spend your time and energies on something like this, it just causes lost sleep and un-needed agrivation. I spent a month posting about my bad deal and in the end all i ended up with was less sleep and alot of stress. good luck with this.

It gets to the point where it becomes more heartache than it is worth, and then the other party has won due to the fact that they obvioulsy dont give a ****. In the end though, sooner or later all crooks get what they deserve. Just like to add some important facts before we close it.

The reason what makes this place soo AWESOME is:
A- All the great,helpful and stand up people we have.
B- Probably the MOST IMPORTANT reason is the Administrators, Greg and Raceman! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I like to point out that Greg contacted me in the beginning, keep in mind it was in the middle of the site update to see if he could be of any help. Always answered my questions and never blew me off. That to me speaks volume about this place and the people behind it!! :thumbsup:

PS, I would also like to make clear that I do know and realize some deals CAN go wrong, someone being picky, what one person thinks is good be not be good for someone else, person selling something not really having a clue about it etc.

Maybe there could also be a sell/buy point system added that the buyer/seller could grade the transaction. Kind of like E-bay (I really didn't want to say that).

So there is still that 1%. Even though, I would never admit to be a friend of someone or associate with a person that conducted themself like Jon has.

Greg has even made numerous attempts with no success and IMO one attempt from him should have been more than enough. I went back and searched some of his for sale threads/posts. And there seems to have been no complaints (at lease not posted in open forum). OK so we have here an isolated case, but it is still a case of wrong doing isolated or not.

IMO one of several things should have happened and hasn't.

(1) Seller should have never told buyer to return item for a refund and not refunded :eek:.
Seller now has cowl and money???????:rolleyes:

(2) Seller could at least make contact with buyer after over 10 weeks :confused:. Friends have supposedly confronted seller about this situation.

(3) Seller could have posted on this thread, told buyer to kiss off, Item was sold as is no refund and sent item back to buyer.

The strange thing to me here is. Friends supporting seller never posted sellers response once he was confronted by them?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I still think we need to form several S&F groups in districts/regions and do like the Navy Seals do. When someone claims to have been a Navy Seal etc. that actually wasn't (and they find out about it) they have a Team that goes out and face to face confronts that indiviual.

I went back and searched some of his for sale threads/posts. And there seems to have been no complaints (at lease not posted in open forum). OK so we have here an isolated case, but it is still a case of wrong doing isolated or not.

IMO one of several things should have happened and hasn't.

(1) Seller should have never told buyer to return item for a refund and not refunded :eek:.
Seller now has cowl and money???????:rolleyes:

(2) Seller could at least make contact with buyer after over 10 weeks :confused:. Friends have supposedly confronted seller about this situation.

(3) Seller could have posted on this thread, told buyer to kiss off, Item was sold as is no refund and sent item back to buyer.

The strange thing to me here is. Friends supporting seller never posted sellers response once he was confronted by them?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Seller hasn't been active on S&F sence the latter part of May 5-26-2010?

:iagree: Good info and post!! The deal took place the early part of April and he was on here well after the deal took place. I would bet he has been on here under a different name.
But as you mentioned he has been contacted by a few of his friend and still nothing.
You can even go back and read the response Scott Gilmore (his good friend) put up after talking with him about trying to negotiate the shipping now. At this point it is all!!
If he did come on here now he would probably play the sick or hospital card. How about the phone calls to both his lines plus the emails to his dad. NO excuse good enough!
