Last weekend I plug the 6 holes in my lower unit. To get more exhust to the blades and lower the sound

Well about 2500 rpms I hear a rattle, sounds like a loose washer jingling.

I plugged the holes by building up the area flat with epoxy stick and then bolting/epoxying a flat alluminum plate on each side.

Is this sound normal? If a small peice of epoxy came off would it exit through the exhust or could it stay in and make this jingling sound. Not sure if it is a new sound or not at 2500 rpms the noise wouldn't have been hear.

Could be just paranoid since it is a fresh rebuild. Nothing looked loose

By the way holeshot seemed the same so seems it was probably a waste of time to do it other than I can talk to people in the midrange

Don't know about 2500, but somewhere around 3000 it's a known fact that Merc V-6s all sound like they're going to come apart. Something with the harmonics. IF it is what is causing your noise, it should only last for a couple hundred rpm and should go away as you give it more gas. Maybe you never noticed it before if your exhaust was really loud.
