Just wondering where the benefits of finger porting show up in the power curve.

In theory, everywhere. The port timing (height) is mostly responsible for the location (RPM) at which peak power occurs. However, the benefit of improved flow will become more pronounced as the time available for transfer is shortened (ie. high RPM)

I agree....Fingerports are juss anuther route for fuel mix to git to tha comb chamber...More fuel in comb chamber, mo power....It will be more pronounced on power gain wher ever tha mota needs more fuel to make power....Which, in my unprofessional opinion, would be in tha higher rpm range!!....Tha instalation ov fingerports alone ain't tha max for improve'in fuel delivery/power....Tha shape, and angle ov the finger port(az well az the boost and transfer ports) roofs contribute az much performance(if not more) than juss stick'in in a couple more ditches in tha cyls!!....Directing tha fuel charge to wher U want it iz tha key to make'in maximum power...Do it wrong, and U shoot all that power make'in fuel rite out tha exhaust befo it haz a chance to burn!!!.......Thatz my story, an I'm stick'in to it!!!

Thanks guy's that was somewhere along the lines of what I was thinking. I did a trace map of the ports on a 2L and projected the bmep. The results were as you both say, better and more consistent fuel flow into the chamber if the positioning is correct and you can find a way to hold it in. It makes complete sense to reshape the top of the boost port to force the fuel to hold longer. If you get it right, the fuel in the squish band should be denser and would promote a more consistent flame front in the mid to upper RPM ranges and that should equate to more power and an exteneded RPM range with less risk of detonation or pre ignition.
Am I on the right track or out in la la land somewhere?
