200 stock nose cone case. I can't get shifter to do forward, new, reverse only one or the other. There seams to be not enough movement from the control box and cable to the motor.
please help me with this problem. I'm very good with boats, motors, and gearcases but can't get this one. Thank's Terry....

sounds like you might have to turn the shift rod coming out of the lower unit a few turns to get more movement or your cables are stretched too far.

Sometimes the weld breaks on the bellcrank, attaching the lever that the cable attaches to to the pivoting shaft which the shift shaft connector is mounted on. This causes some play,or lost motion resulting in less than full throw of the linkage and not fully engageing both gears,Chris

I'VE CHANGED SHIFT CABLE, INSTALLED DIFFERENT CONTROL BOX, CLUTCH DOG AND GEARS BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL ROUNDED FROM GRANNY SHIFTING OR IMPROPER CABLE ALIGNMENT.
tHANK'S FOR THE HELP GUYS AND WILL look at the cracked area Chris C.

Did you check the shift rod adjustment when you had the gearcase off. Sometimes it gets turned without knowing.

yes, have it at the correct measured height and also threaded up and down to see if this would help.
Don't get it. It will work if you shift the linkage on the motor by hand only.
