Red holley fuel pump. Anyone ever put one in an ally xb2003? Trying to pick best spot. Thanks, Jim

They're pushers not pullers so you need it to be pretty close to the same height as the tank or your pressure at the motor will be lower than expected. I had a Red set where I thoght it would be safest as far as siphoning but I only got 3lbs at the engine. Rather than sticking it in the bilge I went with the Black vented Marine and a pressure regulator. You can mount that in a safe and sane location that's easy to get to and still have good pressure.

What are the reasons to go to an external holley type pump on an outboard? Thanks

Agreed. I mounted my Holley red in my Stoker about 6" above my tanks, and had a MAJOR pick-up problem. Just didn't work. It's now 1/2" off center "sponson" floor at back of boat and and works great. Primes from completely empty in about 2 seconds.
