please help me ID this mercury 2.5

i was wondering if someone can confirm this to be a 2.5 260hp
what year is it ?

im confused because hand written in marker on the back of the ecu it says a15 how could that be?

2.5 260 the date should be stamped on the block if you look behind the upper part of throttle arm. with an analog ecu I would say pre-1995

is it definetly a 260???

im not sure but i was told a a15 is for a 200 offshore is it possible this is a 200

i bought it thinking it was a 260

please help
