if your'e an Allison fan, and maybe if you aren't, you know that Allison has put an upper limit of 2.5 liters on it's xb2003 and xb2002 models.

so far, in my year of being a member here, i know that there is a whole range of 2.5liter mercs that make big power out of big rpm. still, in the interest of my own education, what other motors qualify as power options for allison xb's?

this place:

sells mostly fishmotors, but it appears the most powerful [stock] 2.5L omc is 175hp. is this really OMC's top offering in the 2.5L class?

what about 2-stroke yamaha's? what power options do they have in the 2.5L class?

IOW, what are the most powerful 2.5L options from each engine maker?

on a side note: Their prices are sort of high and don't give a solid year of the engine.

Now to your question... can't help you.

allison is referring to weight on there limit of 2.5l it has nothing to do with hp.try to find a light motor wich ever brand u like.

A guy that lives one county over from me sold the 225 Pro Max 2.5 liter off his boat (XB2003) and replaced it with a 3.0 liter 250 XS and he absolutely loves it.

The Yamaha 2.6 liter engines went up to 225hp on the cowling. Some where very stout 225hp.

fascinating. can you tell me which years and model name those yamahas were?

so many allisons are sold without power, I'm always interested in keeping my options open.
